"Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it." —John Hughes
Friends of Type paid homage to John Hughes by illustrating the last line of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off as “a reminder to those who are too busy to stop and enjoy life.”

Here We Collide Collective: What is your favorite quote?

This past week’s Collective was meant to encourage you to see how apps can encourage and develop your creativity. Thanks again to those of you who submitted your suggestions!

For the new Collective, we want to know:

What is your favorite quote? You are welcome to send us the quote as is, or you could get creative—illustrate it, show us where you first read it, send us an image that reminds you of the quote. Whatever you do, we want to know the words that encourage you most.

Remember to use the tag “Here We Collide Collective” so we can look at and share your submission!

This week, we want to know more about the most meaningful gift you’ve received. Here’s one of your submissions:
stucklike-glue:
A friend of mine gave me this book, that is filled with puppy pictures and inspirational quotes, for Christmas a few years ago. The timing of her gift couldn’t have been more perfect, I was going thru a very rough time and about to start recovery from self-harm which I had just opened up and told her about about a month earlier. To this day I carry this little quote book in a special pocket of my backpack along with the car she gave me. Whenever I’m feeling down, upset, or worthless I take out this book and read it and the card she gave me.

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”
Those words were the first thing I noticed when I walked into Mr. Wilson’s seventh grade band class. Those words are painted on the wall in gold and black for our school colours.
I don’t know who decided to put them there, but those words saved my life.
Middle school hasn’t been the best, but walking into that band class everyday and reading those words again and again has kept me self harm free and alive.
Thank you, Mr. Wilson

You’re alive. That means you have infinite potential. You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.

I have loved this Hafiz quote from the moment I first read it, and I hope others find it as inspiring as I do.

Here We Collide Collective: For NSPW, share the quotes that give you hope.

This week we asked you to send us a picture of your copy of your favorite book and to  share with us your favorite lines from its pages. We want to thank all of you for your submissions and for sharing with us the books that have moved you.

September 9 - 15 is National Suicide Prevention Week, and we would like you to get involved by writing a quote that has inspired hope in you or that you think would inspire hope in others. You could share these words that encourage you to keep going by writing them on paper or a poster and sending us a photo of you with it. Don’t forget to use the tag “Here We Collide Collective” so that we can post your submissions next week.

We look forward to spreading hope with you for NSPW!

When I say it’s you I like, I’m talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed.
Mr. Fred Rogers
